The Flowers and Ferns, Observations at the Volunteer Park Conservatory is a collaborative zine created by my friend Ellie and me. The project served as both an exercise in creative collaboration and an opportunity to complete a fully realized publication from concept to production. Our project was rooted in direct observation and place-based inspiration. Over the course of four to five visits, we sketched plants, flowers, and ferns from life.

Between visits, we worked collaboratively—reviewing our sketches, refining our ideas, and mapping the structure of the publication through whiteboard sessions and iterative discussions. This process allowed us to balance our distinct working and design styles while developing a cohesive visual and conceptual language.
